Tom Paterson is a business visionary who worked with many of the major corporations of his time over the course of a career that spanned decades. Educated as a mechanical engineer and later with an MBA from Pepperdine University, Tom integrated his unique talents of process design, organizational management, opportunity sensing, and understanding behavioral change into what has become known as the Paterson Process, his strategic-operating planning process, and the LifePlan Process, his one-on-one, two-day intensive for individuals.

The Birkman Method is a comprehensive, widely used personality assessment and report combines motivational, behavioral and interest evaluation into one single assessment, which provides a multi-dimensional and comprehensive analysis, thus reducing the need for multiple assessments.
The Birkman Method was developed in the late 1940s while Roger W. Birkman, a former WWII pilot, was working with a group of scientists at the University of Texas. Birkman conceptualized, developed, and refined the Method as part of his Ph.D. dissertation at the University of Texas. He believed could create an instrument that would aggregate a number of measures into a single tool, believing it would benefit both organizations and individuals.
